Our Chapter

The Tampa Bay Chapter of ISPI was founded in January, 2003 by the Founding President Elvis Lester.  Elvis's enthusiam and determination was fundamental in forming the originial Board of Directors, many of which still serve the chapter in various ways on the Board.   Our membership comes from various industries and disciplines and covers a diverse geographical area including the counties of Hillsborough, Pinellas, Manatee, Pasco and Polk.

Our Chapter Affiliation

The Tampa Bay ISPI Chapter is a chartered chapter of the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI), which has its headquarters in Washington, D.C. Members are practicing professionals in the areas of instructional systems design, training, change management, human resources, organizational development, education and technical writing. We work in such diverse industries as manufacturing, utilities, healthcare, finance, insurance, telecommunications, service industries, universities and colleges. We meet monthly at The Centre Club in Tampa, Florida.

What Is ISPI?

Founded in 1962, the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI) (www.ispi.org) is the leading international association dedicated to improving productivity and performance in the workplace. ISPI represents more than 10,000 international and chapter members throughout the United States, Canada, and 40 other countries. ISPI's mission is to develop and recognize the proficiency of our members and advocate the use of Human Performance Technology. Assembling an Annual Conference & Expo and other educational events like the Institute, publishing books and periodicals, and supporting research are some of the ways ISPI works toward achieving this mission.

Who Belongs to ISPI?

Internal & external performance technologists, training directors & specialists, human resources managers and practitioners, instructional technologists, human factors practitioners, change agents, human performance technologists, organizational and independent consultants, local academicians are members of ISPI. They work in a wide variety of settings including business, academia, government, health services, banking, and the armed forces.

People have the skills, capacity, proficiency, and desire to apply the  Human Performance Technology Model to meet the needs and goals of organizations and individuals, so that the Performance Improvement Practicioners are recognized as valued contributors.
